For people who have been abused, myself included, to be antagonized by someone in authority is traumatizing! Those put in place to protect you, should never be the ones to attempt to humiliate you. Being placed in a situation such as incarceration is humiliating enough! I think that much of law enforcement within these walls, and on the outside as well, too often forget that we are still human beings and that no one is above the law. No one has the right to be abusive to another under any circumstances! Especially those whom are to aid in helping you to be better. Just this morning, I watched an officer literally leave her post to come into the wing specifically to argue with an offender! Are you serious? Where is the level of professionalism? And more importantly, where is the level of maturity for these people? What is so wrong in their lives that they feel the need to treat people that way? Were they picked on as a child? Last time I checked, bullying was not a part of the job description.
